AppleがiPhoneなど向けiOS 26.5とiPadOS 26.5をリリース!

Appleは11日(現地時間)、同社が販売するスマートフォン(スマホ)「iPhone」シリーズ向けプラットフォーム「iOS」とタブレット「iPad」シリーズ向けプラットフォーム「iPadOS」の最新バージョン「iOS 26.5(23F77)」および「iPadOS 26.5(23F77)」を提供開始したとお知らせしています。変更点はエンドツーエンド(End-to-End:E2E)で暗号化されたRCSメッセージ(ベータ版)への対応とダウンロード可能なプライドルミナンスの壁紙が追加され、iPhoneおよびiPadでの機能向上やバグ修正、セキュリティーアップデートも含まれるということです。

なお、セキュリティーアップデートについてはCVEに登録されているKernel関連の「CVE-2026-43654」や「CVE-2026-28897」、「CVE-2026-28951」、「CVE-2026-28972」、「CVE-2026-28986」、「CVE-2026-28987」、WebKit関連の「CVE-2026-43660」や「CVE-2026-28907」、「CVE-2026-28962」、「CVE-2026-43658」、「CVE-2026-28905」、「CVE-2026-28904」、「CVE-2026-28903」などの61個の脆弱性が修正されているということで、同社ではこれらの脆弱性のうちのいくつかは積極的に悪用されている可能性があるという報告を認識しているとしています。

対象機種はiOS 26.5では最新の「iPhone 17e」を含めたiPhone 11シリーズ以降やiPhone SE(第2世代)以降が対象、iPadOS 26.5ではiPad(第8世代)以降やiPad mini(第5世代)以降、iPad Air(第3世代)以降、12.9インチiPad Pro(第3世代)以降および11インチiPad Pro(第1世代)以降のiPad Proシリーズが対象で、各製品にて無料で更新可能です。なお、iOS 18の対象機種だったiPhone XSシリーズおよびiPhone XR、iPadOS 18の対象機種だったiPad(第7世代)はそれぞれ対象外となり、対象外の機種ではそれぞれiOS 26やiPadOS 26にはアップデートできないのでご注意ください。

また同社では合わせてより古いiPhoneやiPadなど向けに「iOS 18.7.9」および「iPadOS 18.7.9」や「iPadOS 17.7.11」、「iOS 16.7.16」および「iPadOS 16.7.17」、「iOS 15.8.8」および「iPadOS 15.8.8」、パソコン「Mac」向け「macOS Tahoe 26.5」、スマートウォッチ「Apple Watch」向け「watchOS 26.5」、スマートテレビ「Apple TV」向け「tvOS 26.5」、スマートヘッドセット「Apple Vision」向け「visionOS 26.5」なども配信開始しています。

iPhone向けのiOSやiPad向けのiPadOSの最新メジャーバージョンとして先ごろよりiOS 26.0とiPadOS 26.0が提供開始されていましたが、これらに続けて新機能が追加されたiOS 26.1とiPadOS 26.1、iOS 26.2とiPadOS 26.2、iOS 26.3とiPadOS 26.3、iOS 26.4とiPadOS 26.4が提供され、その後、iOS 26.4とiPadOS 26.4の不具合や脆弱性を修正したiOS 26.4.1・iPadOS 26.4.1やiOS 26.4.2」と・iPadOS 26.4.2がリリースされてきましたが、今回、E2Eで暗号化したRCSメッセージに対応したほか、複数の不具合や脆弱性の修正が行われたiOS 26.5およびiPadOS 26.5がリリースされました。iOS 26.5およびiPadOS 26.5の対象機種は以下の通り。

更新は従来通り各製品本体のみでOTA(On-The-Air)によりダウンロードで行え、方法としては、「設定」→「一般」→「ソフトウェア・アップデート」から行え、単体でアップデートする場合のダウンロードサイズは手持ちのiPhone 15 Pro MaxでiOS 26.4.2からだと1.38GBとなっています。またiTunesをインストールしたWindowsおよびMacとUSB-Lightningケーブルで接続しても実施できます。なお、Appleが案内しているアップデートの内容およびセキュリティーコンテンツの修正は以下の通り。
